ABE/GED PROGRAM

The ABE/GED program provides opportunities for adults to improve their English skills in order to achieve their educational and employment goals. Instruction is individualized; students may perform at different levels and progress at their own pace, depending upon ability, achievement, and learning goals.

Upon entering the GED/ABE program at Miami Beach Adult & Community Ed. Center, a diagnostic test is administered in order to assess the student's academic needs. The purpose of this test is to generate a study schedule for each student.

ESOL

The purpose of this course is to provide English language learner adults with English language instruction that will increase their ability to communicate in English for a variety of purposes including employment, education, and life in the United States. 

LITERACY

The purpose of this course is to provide English language and literacy instruction for limited English proficient adults who are non-literate or semi-literate in their home language, in order to increase their ability to communicate in English.

ELCATE

The English Literacy for Career and Technical Education (ELCATE) course is designed for students who have the goal to enter and complete a career/technical education program. The ELCATE course is designed to prepare students for Academic success in career/technical programs and ultimately in the workforce.

These  programs are designed to prepare students for employment as an Information Technology Assistant, HTML Coder, Web Graphic Designer, and Web Producer, Technology Assistant, Help Desk Support Assistant, Help Desk Specialist (Help Desk Technician), and Help Desk Analyst, Computer Programmer Aide, Junior Programmer, Computer Programming Specialist, and Computer Programmer, and to provide supplemental training for persons previously or currently employed in any of these occupations.
